Get Focused!
No Noemi, its your fault that you guys moved to Kentucky. We were doing just fine going to kickboxing class at Ballys and then you decided to leave.
October's issue of Fitness magazine had a good article about making changes and how to stick to them. Here are the 7 steps:
1. Make it nonnegotiable: Don't tell yourself you can cop out.
2. Make it actionable: Be clear about you're going to do to reach your goal.
3. Set a deadline: Mark it on your calendar. (I got this erasable calendar on my wall that I can see everyday and have marked in bright pink letters when I'm starting my fitness activities.)
4. Schedule it in: Write workouts or other healthy Actions in your planner and treat them like appointments.
5. Find solutions for your usual excuses: Write down your most common reasons for not doing something healthy, and brainstorm strategies to deal with them. Ex: Problem: Too Tired. Solution: Go to bed an hour earlier.
6. Do it daily: The more something is part of your everyday life, the less you'll have to think about it.
7. Change your focus: Look at what you've accomplished as opposed to what you still have to do. Pat yourself on the back. or go out and eat a gallon of ice cream!! no, just kidding :-)
