Consumerism
Yesterday's at Macy's they were giving away a free cosmetics item because of a settlement agreement of a class action lawsuit. I'm a paralegal, I remember in one of my classes we had to do a brief in a class action lawsuit. I have an understanding what a CAL is but when my mom asked me what it was, I couldn't explain it to her. I remember the case I worked with and told her about it but that didn't really answer her question. So I googled it this morning and just for your knowledge here it is what a CAL is:
A class action or a representative action is a form of lawsuit where a large group of people collectively bring a claim to court. This form of collective lawsuit originated in the United States and is still predominately a US phenomenon, at least the US variant of it.
Moral of this story: Free Stuff!!! Yay!!!!
