Driver Improvement Class Part 2
I have now completed my Defensive Driving Course. Yes, 6 hours of mind numbing facts about alcohol, drugs and speeding. As you may know from my last post, I did not get a ticket for any of these things. But I guess its good to know about them just in case of it actually happening to you. We had a different teacher, he was much more awake and alert then the first teacher, definitely more strict (this one guy was 15 mins late, he did NOT let him in class). This class was much more informative, we talked for almost an hour about what is illegal to have on your car, any modifications, tints on your windows, etc. I guess I won't be having a flashy car anytime soon.
One thing that I found fascinating was the amount of crackheads in PG County. No joke, half the class was under 21 years of age and they all looked and sounded like they were on some sort of drug. They spoke as if they had no education and were proud of it. I understand that living in PG County, you live with some ghettoness. I can't say that I'm immune to that. But really, you can outgrow that, its not cute when you're older and you think its cool to stay ghetto. My message to them in the words of Whitney Houston: Crack is wack.
I did learn some positive things in this class, I will be more careful when I drive. I don't want to risk my life or other lives so I can show off how fast I can go or how wild I can drive. Just because you get away with it time and time again doesn't make it right. But I swear, if I have to take this class one more time, I will hurt someone.
**Did you know that in the state of Maryland, you are not required to signal when changing lanes??? That is really new information to me. The cop can cite you for unsafe lane change but if you go to court, and unless the officer has proof of negligence, the judge will not have any grounds to convict you of this violation.**
