Experimental Trial
I've been told I'm addicted to technology. I don't refute that allegation. But I also think that I can live with out technology for a period of time. (Hello, when I go to El Salvador, I have nothing). So this morning I had to go to Kinkos for a few projects and decided to leave my phone in the car, I knew I wasn't going to be at Kinkos long so I said I can live with out my phone for a little bit. I take my books to get bounded and wondered what I would do while I waited.
The Kinkos I went to is small (Shout out to Felisha cause she's the bomb). There isn't much to see there, so I start browsing the store. It had the usual paper, supplies, Fed-Ex materials for shipping, PCs, and then I said ok, it has been what 20 minutes already since I got here? NO, FIVE minutes had elapsed. You have got to be kidding me. I started to feel a little anxious. I kept thinking, what if someone calls me? I need my phone! But then I said NO, I have to wait. I can keep myself occupied. Then I noticed the greeting cards section. Jackpot! Um, no, not jackpot. They were the lamest cards in existence. At this point, I really really wanted my phone. Or my iPod. I didn't care, I need some distraction. But again, I said no, I can do this.
I went right along to the self-help books. "What color is your parachute?" I said green and lost interest in the book immediately without even opening it. "Windows Vista for Dummies" It really is for dummies because I skimmed through it all and I knew everything already. "How to make friends and keep them" REALLY???? Ok by this time I was sure an hour had gone by. I was absolutely, positively, 1000% sure, err wait, 15 minutes!?!?!?!?!? WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!! I started hyperventilating. I desperately needed my phone. I was about to walk out the door and then Felisha told me everything was ready.
Wooo I did it! I spent a whole 20 minutes without my phone near me. Never again. Unless absolutely necessary, and I know that is not going to happen anytime soon.
