Lessons in Basketball

I've been re-learning how to play basketball these past couple of weeks (shout out to John, Pedro and Rut). I think I'm not all that great but eventually I'll get to be able to play decently. One thing I'll tell you is that you run out of breath so fast! Well, I do. I'm like dying after 5 minutes in to a game. I want to drink an entire water bottle in one gulp, but that's bad, that will mess you up. Here are a few pointers/reminders you want to keep in mind when playing basketball:
  • Do NOT wear jeans. I learned that one of the first times I played basketball. I was hot and uncomfortable.
  • Drink water, but pace yourself. Take a sip, not an entire bottle.
  • When guarding a person, do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, smack their face with a basketball, nor do you scratch them up. Also, elbowing someone in the boobs is prohibited and painful. This is not supposed to be a violent game. (I'm talking to you Rut!)
  • Put you AAS into it. Aim, Arc and Snap. (I have to credit Pedro for this one)
  • Last but not least, have fun. It is not all about winning, it is about how good of a game you play. Unless you are John and automatically win at every sporting activity we ever do.
